8 wedding trends for 2024

Some of the wedding trends for 2024 include bridal wedding separates, sustainable options and no phones.

My name is Amanda, I’m a wedding celebrant and I’m here to guide you through some of the directions that wedding are learning towards across this next year.

Keep reading to find out some more trends for 2024 and how you can apply them…

Bridal wedding separates

In terms of style, there is a definite trend towards bridal wedding separates.  These offer a chic way to have one ‘look’ for your ceremony that you can update for your reception later with a quick change into a shorter skirt or cool trousers to dance the night away in.

Coupled with a resurgence of timeless romance, with delicate florals, soft colour palettes, and ethereal fabrics taking centre, there really is something for every taste.

Pre-loved wedding dresses & suits

The move to pre-loved, vintage wedding attire allows you to make your selections without compromising your eco vibe.

Sustainability

Clothing is just one way to be eco-friendly…you can choose to be showered in plant-based confetti, use upcycled décor or select a florist who can source locally grown flowers.

Digital planning

Digital planning of your wedding is just one way of the wedding industry becoming more sustainable.  The most common way to RSVP to a wedding invite is now via text or directly your own wedding website.

Having a personalised website can be a great place to add all the important updates, ahead of the big day, including the timetable for any pre-wedding celebrations such as the hen and stag events!  It’s also a great way to introduce a theme for your celebrations.

Quick tip: Some newly-weds are asking for digital gifts such as contributions to honeymoon activities as opposed to physical wedding gifts.  Experiences are often more valuable than a traditional wedding list.

No phones

Whilst were on the subject of tech, consider if you want to walk down the aisle to your guests’ camera phones held up filming you.  Unplugged ceremonies are a great way for your guest to experience the day ‘in the moment’.

As a celebrant I can set the scene – well before the ceremony begins - by asking everyone to switch their phones off to be fully present in your unplugged ceremony.  A series of photos can then be shared with your guests to remember the day by.

Friday is the day

What day of the week works for you? The shift away from Saturday celebrations now means that Friday is the most popular day to marry on, especially for younger couples.  Many venues often offer discounts on certain weekdays which can help with budget planning.

Less hotels

The move from hotel venues continues to shift towards the popular barn venues, laidback locations, such as a tipi offer a great rustic vibe.

Bespoke catering is on the increase with food trucks, sharing and grazing platters offering a relaxed, chilled way to celebrate that doesn’t include the traditional three course sit down meal.

Candid images

Photography can capture all the elements of the day and allow you to reminisce in all the ‘feels’ for years to come.  Natural and candid images are preferred over traditional group photographs.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the wedding landscape in the UK for 2024 embodies a beautiful fusion of cherished traditions and contemporary innovations. This reflects the unique love stories of each couple as they embark on this new chapter of their lives together.
